How to get there

There are many flight options available to get to Switzerland. The most frequent and convenient airport to land into is Zurich which is only a 2-hour drive away from the alps. It is also possible to fly into Geneva, but the drive is slightly longer and can involve driving through France. Summertime (June – September) good flight prices shouldn’t be more that £120 return.

When to go?

The Alps offer breathtaking beauty that makes it a year-round destination. Winter brings snowy slopes perfect for skiing and snowboarding. The season typically runs from mid-November to late April. As spring approaches, the snow melts, revealing vibrant alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers. April, May, and early June offer a magical blend of snow-capped peaks and blooming landscapes. Summer in Switzerland is a dream, with long days, warm temperatures, and lush greenery. From June to mid-September, you can enjoy hiking, biking, and exploring the stunning Swiss Alps.

Personally, we love to go during the summer season, Prices will be more expensive, but the views are just unreal. We haven’t been during winter season so would love to go and report back to you guys.

Currency

The Swiss use Swiss Francs (CHF). Practically all places accept card so there shouldn’t be a need to take cash.

Tips

Do not speed. Fines are steep

Hire an automatic car

Use the online webcams to see weather forecasts of the location you are going to.

What to avoid?

Not all viral Instagram videos are good. The Gelmerbahn for example, although the views are really good, is actually a really slow ride.

Where to eat?

Food is a bit of an issue if you generally eat Halal. Whilst Interlaken will provide you with many Halal options the rest of the small towns wont provide you with much halal food.  One option could be to get a hotel which has included breakfast which should suffice you to the afternoon and then go into the city for dinner. Another option is to have a self-catering Airbnb or apartment and source products locally. Aldi and Lidl are in abundance and provide an alternative option.
